THE ROOMS
Six rooms, each with its own character – designed by architects who understand that a bedroom should do more than accommodate. Roomy and light, with smooth wooden floors, walk-in rain showers and windows that open onto the Alentejo air. Restored wooden ceilings and original shutters set the scene; bold rugs, vintage lighting and one-of-a-kind pieces – many collected on Filipa and António’s travels – fill it all with life. Choose your unique room.

LOCATION
Alcácer do Sal is one of Portugal’s oldest cities – 3,000 years of history on the banks of the Sado River, and still one of the country’s best-kept secrets. Fifty minutes from Lisbon, thirty from the beaches of Comporta. Close to everything, discovered by almost no one.
Comporta
Pine forests, rice paddies and wild Atlantic beaches. Increasingly sought-after, but still wonderfully unhurried – and just 30 minutes from Casa Fortunato.
Alcácer do Sal
Phoenician, Roman, Moorish and Portuguese – the city wears its history lightly. Cobbled streets, a riverside castle, flamingos in the estuary and a handful of places that feel entirely, quietly, their own.
ROOM #1
White walls with leaded green edges. Fresh, breezy, quietly beautiful.

ALCÁCER DO SAL
Built upon centuries of history – nestled between the river and the hills – the city is far more than just its famous monuments or picturesque streets.

ABOUT US
We’ve spent years restoring buildings in Lisbon – always for other people. Casa Fortunato was different. This one was ours. A century-old townhouse in Alcácer do Sal that we couldn’t let go of.
We didn’t approach it as a hotel project. We approached it the way we approach everything: with obsessive attention to what makes a space feel alive. Every room holds something we found, collected, or fell in love with somewhere along the way. A rug from Marrakech. A lamp we carried back from Milan. A sofa that took six months to arrive.
We live part of the year in Alcácer do Sal. When guests arrive, we’re often here – at breakfast, in the courtyard, at the kitchen table. That’s not an accident. It’s the whole point.
