DISCOVER THE ARTFUL CHARM OF CASA FORTUNATO'S RESTORED VILLA
Bedrooms at Casa Fortunato are not just a place to lay your head, albeit on high thread count Portuguese cotton bedding. The six suites are roomy and light and invite you to unwind, with smooth wooden floors, a white-on-white colour palette, walk-in rain showers and the ultimate homely comfort – windows that open. The original, restored shutters and wooden ceilings are accented in creamy taupe green and flashes of colour come from the minds of our creative designer-owners: brightly hued woven rugs collected from their travels, a Foscarini Filo table lamp here, a Patricia Urquiola for B&B Italia sofa there. Rest assured at Casa Fortunato you are in the hands of design professionals who reside in the sweet spot between homely and eclectic.

Experiences
At Casa Fortunato, we believe the best moments are those that allow us to slow down and connect with nature. A bicycle ride between Alcácer do Sal and Comporta, following the *Vala dos Regantes* (Irrigation Canal) and passing by the *Cais Palafítico* (stilt wood pier).
Spanning 23 kilometers, this route runs alongside the Sado River and traverses some of the region’s most iconic landscapes: rice paddies stretching to the horizon, centuries-old salt pans, and waterways reflecting the area’s unique light. Amidst the tranquility of each pedal stroke—which invites quiet contemplation—there is time for birdwatching and discovering a territory where nature still sets the daily rhythm.
Some journeys are measured not merely in kilometers, but in emotions. It is an accessible route, ideal for a leisurely pace, offering plenty of opportunities to stop, take photos, or simply admire the surrounding beauty.
Price per electric bike 150€ per day

Getting to know a region also means discovering its flavors, its products, and the stories behind every ingredient. Bearing this in mind, Casa Fortunato’s open kitchen takes its inspiration from a traditional Mediterranean diet and lifestyle while delicately incorporating the Japanese philosophy of ‘shibui’ (beauty in simplicity) in to every meal…
We are mad about good ingredients and we look forward to nourishing your body (and soul) with exceptional food. Enjoy your own Chef upon request taking his immense pleasure in creating outstanding meals, packed with fresh, organic ingredients that reflect the integrity and quality of our local, independent suppliers.
As part of this program, a visit to the Alcácer do Sal market is essential to discover and select the ingredients for each meal. Back at Casa Fortunato, it is time to prepare the meal, learn techniques, share knowledge, and-above all-work up an appetite. The experience culminates in the dining room, with everyone gathered around the table for an intimate moment of sharing that will be long remembered.

Experiences
Built upon centuries of history – nestled between the river and the hills – the city is far more than just its famous monuments or picturesque streets. Hidden behind unassuming doors, ancient walls, and seemingly slumbering buildings lie spaces, stories, and memories that rarely feature on standard itineraries. This experience is designed for those who love to travel beyond the obvious; for those who prefer hearing a story told firsthand rather than simply reading a plaque; and for those who believe that the most special places are often the ones that do not appear in tourist guidebooks.
