Room No.8

Room eight pays homage to the natural forms that are found in nature, particularly the simple, closed shape of the circle.  From the curve of the polished brass door handle to the spherical lighting that hangs from the ceiling and the midnight blue half-moons on the striking Jupiter-10 wallpaper – this room is a tranquil hideaway.  Busy carpets in bold oranges and earthy reds lie on the stripped pine floor their patterns reflecting the sweep of the bright orange lampshade that sits atop the large polished desk, and the arc of the pale ochre bedhead.  In the separate little sitting area, replete with stacks of Monocle magazines, a comfy wicker sofa with its plump circular cushions looks inward at the textured, iridescent tiles of the large bathroom, it’s large silvery mirror reflecting the golden light that streams in through the window – washing the room with a cosy glow.

We are Filipa and Antonio Fortunato and, together with our four children (and our dog!), we have taken a shared dream and transformed it in to an exceptional reality. Casa Fortunato is the result of many years of planning and many more of love and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve achieved.

The concept of ‘wellness’ is often misunderstood and dismissed as being too much like hard work but we think that the key areas of one’s life: social connectedness, exercise, nutrition, sleep, emotional health, intellectual curiosity and spirituality are, in fact, just different facets of one wellness jewel (you!)
