Room No.9

Room nine is perhaps the most unusual of all our lovely rooms: from the bold, vibrant squares of the Jupiter 10 wallpaper to the square panes of glass that gleam in the crittall bathroom screens; from the stunning, pinky, terracotta tiles with their pocks worn smooth by time, to the rectangular glass-topped desk that sits in the vast square window looking out over the Rua  Artilharia 1.  This is a space that oozes eccentricity that is most felt in its quirky layout.  The fourposter chrome bed frame sits nestled on multi-coloured Moroccan carpets below the raised platform of the bathroom that hides a sunken bath in its surface, neat bedside tables in patinated oak reflect the finish of the majestic wardrobe that is homed at the entrance to the room.  Room Nine is a perfect blend of traditional and edgy that brings a smile to your face with its riot of golden light and colour – truly sumptuous.

We are Filipa and Antonio Fortunato and, together with our four children (and our dog!), we have taken a shared dream and transformed it in to an exceptional reality. Casa Fortunato is the result of many years of planning and many more of love and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve achieved.

The concept of ‘wellness’ is often misunderstood and dismissed as being too much like hard work but we think that the key areas of one’s life: social connectedness, exercise, nutrition, sleep, emotional health, intellectual curiosity and spirituality are, in fact, just different facets of one wellness jewel (you!)
