We are kindred souls, and we met many moons ago whilst studying architecture at the same university. Describing our individual traits, talents
and passions is relatively simple.
Me, Filipa, am best known for my individual and original anthropologist approach to the way I transform and orchestrate an interior, with a
colourful and detailed storytelling in my design. Being a trained architect, an emotional communications professional and writer, I give space, purpose and feeling, thinking of how a person will interact with their surrounds.
My work on the original Casa Fortunato Hotel was featured across international press and you could say, it become the hotel darling of Lisbon.
António is the aesthetic, he has an incredible eye for spotting interesting buildings, spaces and unseen potential. He creates buildings that flourish with natural light, his spatial understanding utilizes the contours to maximal effect, as does his use of architectural detailing to add a
beautiful depth to raw simplicity. António is an avid collector of lighting, furnishings and fixtures, standout objects, artworks and is passionate about heritage design. Together we have an enviable little black book of design at our fingertips – perfect for creating the interiors that sleep happy with their architecture.
We have a lot going on, we are excited and look forward to hearing from you soon. If you have a project in mind, why not book in a chat with us at
our lovely Lisbon studio – a perfect canvas of ideas and a taster of what’s to come.
We only have nine bedrooms which we consider to be very fortuitous, this is because ‘nine’ is a sacred number, not only does it represent wisdom but it is also the symbol of completion and fulfilment. Nine is thought to be a number of great magic and power, and we believe that Casa Fortunato echoes this through the unique and individual atmosphere that she radiates.
The winding, cobbled streets of Lisbon are made for searching out unique treasures, from buzzing restaurants to antique shops. Soak up the lively hum of Europe’s oldest and most charming cities.
We are Filipa and Antonio Fortunato and, together with our four children (and our dog!), we have taken a shared dream and transformed it in to an exceptional reality. Casa Fortunato is the result of many years of planning and many more of love and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve achieved.
